I believe that it takes an immense amount of courage to acknowledge our need for support and seeking it, whether that be for ourselves or for our loved ones. This is why I hope to provide a space for you where you feel supported, heard, safe and empowered.
I draw my experience from working with young people across various settings such as academic, not-for-profit, and early intervention programs for concerns like anxiety, anger management, stress, low mood, bullying, self-esteem, and more. My approach to therapy uses various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness; tailoring and customising them to you and/or your child’s unique needs and goals. |
Here’s a few ways in which I work with you:
1. No surprises: Therapy can be daunting, more so when investing a lot of resources into it for yourself or your children and not knowing what to expect! My way of working is for us to set specific and realistic goals together, review these regularly, and plan our sessions together so you get the most out of them and you have an idea of what's coming.
2. Collaborative and person-centred: We will work together as a team, giving feedback to each other every session and I will incorporate all your valuable feedback in the treatment and session plans accordingly. I strongly believe in people being the experts of their own life, and thus sessions will be heavily focused on your individual needs and goals.
3. Warm, safe and fun: Whether we want to talk, or play games or draw, this space is your space and my aim will be to make it safe, non-judgemental and warm enough for a positive therapeutic relationship to foster
4. Assessment and rapport-focused: To make sure that your treatment plan is personalised, adaptable and best suited to you or your child’s individual needs, I will aim to spend enough time gaining an in-depth understanding of your life story and all relevant information.
5. Inclusive practice: As an individual from a different culture myself, I understand the challenges of cultural and language barriers and difficulties in adjusting to major life transitions such as migration. Therefore I am passionate about providing culturally-informed therapy to clients where they feel represented, empowered and included.
In my spare time, I love to explore cafes and restaurants, watch Korean dramas, and take care of my two beautiful cats!
I look forward to welcoming you and working with you at Hopscotch and Harmony soon!
