TELEHEALTH
Online Counselling
for Health Professionals & Support Staff
We know you’re under enormous pressure at the moment. We thank you for being on the front line carrying the emotional burden of caring for panicked and emotionally heightened patients and community members.
We have created a new service dedicated to supporting staff in the healthcare industry by offering Telehealth counselling sessions led by our Director, Jessica Cleary, and Principal Psychologist, Tamsyn White.
Sessions with our Director are $250 and with our Principal Psychologist are $230. We have a sliding scale with a lower fee for seeing others in our team. We have immediate availability. Standard appointments are 50 minutes but 25 minute sessions at a reduced fee are available too - we know you're flat out.
Whether you or your staff are looking for individual mental health sessions, or you want to create an Employee Assistance Program for your workplace, we can help you now. Reach out.
We know how important it is to have someone to talk to and help you with stress management, overwhelm and anxiety.
Taking steps now may help protect you and your staff against burnout that could negatively impact your work and your relationships. We’re here for you.

Can parents get a MHTP as well when their child is having difficulties?
Often parents are very stressed and are experiencing anxiety symptoms when they have a child with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Many parents present to us with a MHTP in their name to help them cope with their own difficulties in the context of parenting under adversity, as well as their child having their own MHTP.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BETTER ACCESS AND CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT PLANS?
There are several important differences between the two initiatives with respect to the provision of psychological services. The chronic disease management (CDM) scheme has a focus primarily on 'chronic or complex medical illness'. The managing GP can refer their patient to a psychologist if they feel that psychological services can assist in improving the management of the physical disease. The referral comes from a GP who has developed a GP Management Plan along with Team Care Arrangements that have been developed with at least two other allied health professionals.
The Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative aims to provide better care for those with a 'mental disorder'. Under this initiative, the referral can come from a GP who has developed a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan or a psychiatrist assessment and management plan, or a psychiatrist or paediatrician on direct referral. Although we don't need to see the Mental Health Treatment Plan, we do need a referral letter. Sending the MHTP without a referral letter is not sufficient unfortunately.
Under the CDM scheme, your patient can only claim a rebate for a total of five allied health services in a calendar year for all allied health services combined, including psychology. Under the Better Access initiative an eligible patient can receive rebates for up to 10 psychological services (up to 6 on any one referral). The rebates are much higher under the Better Access initiative and that is why doctors usually refer to us under Better Access rather than the CDM scheme.
Hopscotch & Harmony psychologists can see patients under both the CDM scheme and Better Access. If you would like more information about Medicare referrals and the different initiatives then let us know! There is a lot of misinformation and confusion out there!
