One in ten women experience antenatal depression and one in seven women experience postnatal depression.
PND can present in different ways and typically it involves symptoms of both depression and anxiety. When depressive symptoms are strongest, we refer to it as postnatal depression. When anxiety is the dominate experience, we refer to it as postnatal anxiety.
Postnatal anxiety can include postnatal panic, postnatal obsessive-compulsive disorder and postnatal post-traumatic stress disorder.
