What is PLAY THERAPY? A play therapy session uses lots of fun and engaging activities involving puppets, play dough, games, art supplies and figurines that are specifically selected to aid in the therapeutic process.
Through play, children act out their past and present as well as their dreams for the future. A safe, caring environment is created so the child feels free to wonder, explore, discover and problem solve.
The psychologist can then help the child and parent understand what the child is experiencing and to find more effective ways of coping with worries. As children do not have the language skills to communicate the depths of their feelings and hurts the same way that adults can, play therapy can help children integrate and express their feelings.
