"I believe that positive change in therapy can be enhanced with empathy, active listening and a good therapeutic alliance between the therapist and the client. It can be difficult to openly discuss your worries and concerns which is why I approach each conversation with compassion and kindness. I believe that no two people are the same and so I ensure to tailor my approach to each person and prioritise their care.
Early intervention can help children develop effective strategies and techniques to aide them in times of distress, and help them cope when faced with challenges in the future. Furthermore, as adolescence can be a difficult period, it is important to take the time to listen to the concerns of both the individual and their parent/guardian, and develop positive goal based outcomes.
I typically incorporate strategies and interventions from play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance commitment therapy, as well as mindfulness techniques to help the client through their journey and towards positive change.
I have worked in both private and public settings including specialised and general clinics, as well as in schools. I have experience working with children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, adjustment difficulties and panic attacks. I also have experience working with children with intellectual disabilities and developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD."
