"Making the choice to come and see a psychologist can be a big decision, particularly the first time. It can bring up a range of emotions; fear, anxiety, relief, worry. It can seem daunting, overwhelming, and way out of your comfort zone. As a psychologist, I think about this every time I work with someone new. I am constantly aware of the trust placed in me by my clients, and I value this deeply.
Holding a space for someone to reveal deeply personal parts of themselves, in order for them to move in the direction of their goals, is an absolute privilege of the work I do. The strength of the therapeutic relationship is critical to the effectiveness of the therapy itself, so I work hard to tailor an approach that best meets the needs of my client whilst maintaining honesty and authenticity.
One of the most uplifting parts of this work is when clients become aware of the many strengths and skillsets they possess. I love helping people discover and leverage these to help them grow and thrive, and I facilitate the use of these strengths to achieve my client’s goals.
I also like to bring a sense of lightness, fun and play to the work where possible – I want clients to look forward to their appointments as a place for freedom, discovery and comfort.
I have experience working with clients as young as 6 through to adults and draw on a range of treatment modalities to ensure the richest and most meaningful experience for my clients.
Like I said, coming to see a psychologist can conjure a range of emotions. I look forward to welcoming you to a space, your space, that feels welcoming, warm and safe.
When I’m not at H&H, you can usually find me at the beach with my dogs! I look forward to meeting you soon."
