Georgina is passionate about working together with parents, schools, and other professionals to provide holistic wellbeing care to young children, adolescents and adults to help them reach their full potential.
Working with Georgina will benefit parents who feel like they are confused, powerless and stressed, and want to make positive changes and build loving connections within their family.
Children and young people will push against boundaries placed on them. For parents, these are often the most stressful times. However, reframing these situations as the perfect learning opportunities for children to learn important life skills like inhibiting impulses, managing big angry feelings, and considering how their behaviour impacts others, is the first step for parents to feel empowered, calm and confident… most of the time… since we are all imperfect humans!
Georgina is also aware that young adulthood is a time of increased stress as there are significant life changes that occur and decisions to be made. These are times where unhealthy coping strategies tend to be adopted as a “quick fix” but leave young people feeling more disheartened in the long term.
Georgina enjoys working with young adults to assist them create an inner calm and confidence with their identity and with the big world around them.
Georgina tailors treatment to the specific needs of the individual and their family. Most people associate psychology with the brain, which of course has quite an important role in how we think, feel and behave. Georgina also considers the brain-body connection and incorporates mindfulness activities into treatment to strengthen this connection to create greater internal awareness and self-control.
Georgina is registered as a clinical psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a Clinical College Member of the Australian Psychological Society. She has provided psychological services in adult mental health outpatient hospital units, forensic drug and alcohol community settings and school settings.
